Florida Matters: 2015 Year-End Highlights

Same-sex marriage is now legal in all 50 states. Jan. 6, 2015 marked the first day in Florida history that same sex couples were able to legally marry. To mark the occasion, Hillsborough County Clerk Pat Frank held a group wedding.

As 2015 comes to a close, we are taking a look back at some of the discussions we brought you throughout the year.

Producer note: Since the Florida Matters on homelessness among Florida's students first aired, Michelle Holmes finished the six-week job training course through the Homeless Empowerment Program. She has been working full-time as a receptionist at a medical office for the last three months.  Michelle and her children, Noah and Emma, are living in a private apartment on the HEP campus in Clearwater. Both children are now excelling in school.

Carson Cooper served as host of WUSF’s "Morning Edition" for 18 years. He took the job in 2000, after working in Tampa Bay radio for decades. He was a fan favorite of our listeners, bringing his friendly and familiar voice to listeners as they started their weekday mornings.
