One of the festival’s most anticipated events, the Chef Showdown invites Tampa Bay’s top chefs to step into the spotlight for an electrifying evening of head-to-head culinary battles. This year’s competition is bigger than ever, with 20 talented chefs facing off in nine epic matchups, plus an all-new Milagro Tequila Bartender Showdown highlighting the region’s standout mixologists. Each chef team will host its own battle pavilion, where guests can sample competing dishes and cast their votes before the chefs take the Publix Culinary Showdown Kitchen stage for live demos judged by culinary insiders and media. Presented by GOYA Foods, the VIP Chef Showdown brings high‐energy excitement as spectacular food and friendly rivalry fuel riveting battles.

Embark on a magical journey this April as the Richey Suncoast Theatre presents "Peter and the Starcatcher." This inventive, Tony Award-winning play reveals the enchanting origin story of the boy who never grew up, taking audiences on a whirlwind adventure filled with pirates, mermaids, and secret missions.

When Mike Downey (Jim Floyd), a small-time white supremacist, is charged with the brutal murder of an immigrant, the case appears open-and-shut. The crime is savage, the motive hateful, and public outrage immediate. Assigned to defend him is Danny Dunkelman (Michael Raver), a young Jewish lawyer and the son of a Holocaust survivor. For Danny, the appointment is more than professionally challenging. It is morally explosive. How does a man whose family history is scarred by genocide stand beside someone who glorifies it? Come to the Florida Studies Book Festival for lectures from published faculty and award-winning Florida historians and experts from around the state.

Florida can be a complex and complicated state. Many residents and visitors alike want to know more about the state's history, environment, politics and culture. The Florida Studies Book Festival will provide an opportunity for the public to encounter writers and books that address the Florida experience, and to highlight the USF Florida Studies program.

The program will be moderated by Florida Studies Program Director Chris Meindl. There will also be book sales and signings, as well as conversations with authors.

Featured writers include Sen. Bill Nelson, Gilbert King, Evan P. Bennett, J. Michael Francis, Gary Mormino, Dalia Colón, and more.

During the lunch break, there are nearby dining options.

"Join the St. Petersburg Museum of History every second Saturday for a trolley tour through baseball history in St. Petersburg! Curated by the Society for American Baseball Researchers (SABR), the tour will travel through the history of America’s pastime in St. Pete.
