Video: Florida Man Dies After Winning Roach-Eating Contest

YouTube screen shot

A South Florida man died Friday after winning a cockroach-eating contest at a Deerfield Beach reptile store, the Miami Herald reports.

Edward Archbold, 32, of West Palm Beach, ate more than 20 roaches and worms in four minutes to earn the grand prize: a pet python.

But before the Archbold could collect his reward, he began vomiting and collapsed outside the store. Archbold was taken to Broward Health North, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy is pending.

What follows is a video of Archbold winning the contest. It goes without saying that viewer discretion is advised.
