WUSF Stephen Noble Digital/Social News intern

Much as I’ve tried to run away from my love for words as a career option, language and writing have been central to my life for as long as I could remember.

Throughout my childhood, my mom, a university professor in linguistics, instilled in me an appreciation for the nuances of language. My dad, a living encyclopedia of Vietnamese poetry, passed on his passion for literature and poetry to me from a very young age.

Words hold power. Good writing empowers positive actions.

As the doors to a writing career have consistently and graciously opened for me over the past three years, I hope to use this opportunity at WUSF to sharpen storytelling skills and craft powerful stories that matter to the world.

I’m Quyen Tran, a Senior Integrated Public Relations and Advertising (IPRA) major and Mass Communications minor.

I’m also serving as a USF Ambassador and the Editor-in-Chief of Sparks Magazine at USF, a publication dedicated to uplifting the AAPI voice and identity.
