The money will come from reallocating funding set aside for future bond payments on a new county administrative complex in Clearwater.

Pinellas had recommended cutting funding for Weedon Island and Shell Key, state-owned preserves that the county leases and operates. But there has been a reprieve.

“[The state] needs to take responsibility for what they own.”

Pinellas County commissioners are expected to discuss the cutbacks at a budget workshop Thursday morning.
