President Moez Limayem echoed prior comments made by USF leadership on the contentious issue of transferring the Sarasota campus to nearby New College.

The new president greeted students, passed out stickers and outlined big-picture plans for the University of South Florida.

Law, who announced she was stepping down a year ago, says successor Moez Limayem will bring a "deep commitment" to the university when he steps into the leadership role next week.

During a virtual meeting Friday, the Florida Board of Governors unanimously confirmed Moez Limayem to be USF's ninth president. University officials say he'll start early next year.

Moez Limayem could be returning to USF, where he led the Muma College of Business for a decade.

Moez Limayem's confirmation hearing to become USF's next president was pushed back until next year. He says he's not disappointed and looks forward to laying out his plan.

A USF spokesman said, "The BOG informed USF that the November meeting agenda is full, but they look forward to considering Dr. Limayem’s confirmation at the next available meeting."

The final stamp of approval for the former USF dean will come from the Florida Board of Governors during its Nov. 6 meeting.
